
The final playable character is Madison Paige, an investigative journalist who suffers from insomnia and horrifying nightmares. Jayden uses an experimental device known as Added Reality Interface (ARI) which consists of a pair of specialized computer glasses that enhance Jayden's vision, detect and analyze clues, and record information. Next is Norman Jayden, an FBI profiler who has been called in to assist on the Origami Killer case. Later in the game Shelby teams up with the mother of one of the victims, Lauren Winter. Throughout the game Shelby visits family of the victims of the Origami Killer to ask them questions about their respective cases. Next is Scott Shelby, a former police officer turned private detective investigating the Origami Killer case. When his youngest son is kidnapped by the Origami Killer, Ethan is presented with a series of trials to find his son. The first of these protagonists is Ethan Mars, an architect suffering from psychological trauma after an accident killed his oldest son and left him in a coma. The game is segmented into chapters, with players typically controlling one character per chapter.
